Find Freestone Release Dates

A Freestone County projected release date answers when a sentenced person may leave custody, but only after the correct agency and sentence are identified. A pretrial detainee has no computed prison exit date because bond, court action, holds, and case outcome control release. For a Texas prison case, the state offender system may show a projection, schedule, or actual date. For a county sentence, the Sheriff and court records are the proper route. Each date has a distinct meaning, and none should be read as final until the custody record shows actual release.

Freestone Projected and Actual Release

A projected date is a calculated field. It may change as TDCJ audits time, credits, sentences, holds, Board action, and program requirements. A scheduled date comes later in the release process, yet it can also move. Only an actual Release Date paired with the correct status confirms that TDCJ recorded the exit.

The word “release” also needs care. Parole and mandatory supervision put a person in the community under conditions. Discharge ends the sentence. Transfer sends the person to another authority and is not community release. A Freestone County Jail departure may be bond, time served, court order, TDCJ commitment, or another agency's hold.

Scheduled versus actual: A schedule is a pending plan. Confirm the completed event through the agency that held the person.

Find a Freestone Inmate Release Date

Choose the record system by custody type. Boyd Unit is a TDCJ prison, while Freestone County Jail is a local jail. Applying a TDCJ formula to a local sentence can produce a false date.

  1. For a state prisoner, search the official TDCJ offender locator with the full name and TDCJ or SID number when known.
  2. Read Offender Status, location, Parole Review Information, and the displayed projected field. Confirm identity through offense and county or court.
  3. Use TDCJ IVSS for expected and actual release fields and prior TDCJ-number history.
  4. For a Freestone County Jail sentence, request the judgment, jail-credit entry, and release record from the court and Sheriff.
  5. For a pretrial case, check bond and court orders, then ask the jail about active holds and completed processing.

TDCJ also accepts public-information questions by email at pia@tdcj.texas.gov when required identifiers are supplied. Its routine public email service may provide the TDCJ number, location, offense, prior incarceration history, and Projected Release Date. It expressly does not provide photographs or Social Security numbers.

Freestone TDCJ Release-Date Fields

The ordinary online locator is oriented toward current prisoners. State IVSS and a focused records request are stronger for an already released person. Read each label literally and preserve the date checked.

FieldWhat it can establish
Offender StatusCurrent state-custody or supervision posture shown by TDCJ
Projected Release DateA calculated date whose legal meaning depends on eligibility
Expected Release DateAn anticipated state release shown in IVSS detail
Release DateThe recorded actual event for that TDCJ episode
Number historyIntake and release dates tied to prior TDCJ numbers

A name-only match is weak. Compare the SID or TDCJ number and the offense, county, court, and date history. A prior release can coexist with a new term, so make sure the date belongs to the episode being researched.

Texas Good Time for Freestone Cases

Texas has no blanket rule that every prisoner serves 85 percent. Government Code §498.003 makes good-conduct time relevant to parole or mandatory-supervision eligibility. It does not otherwise reduce the sentence, and it is a privilege rather than a right.

The statute describes different accrual by classification. Trusty and Class I categories may receive 20 days for 30 actual days, Class II may receive 10, and Class III receives none. Extra credits may apply for certain work or diligent program participation. Classification, forfeiture, limited restoration, offense date, and exclusions all matter. A provision for certified county-jail work credit while awaiting transfer does not establish a general Freestone jail good-time policy.

Government Code §508.145 sets parole eligibility. For offenses and deadly-weapon findings listed through current Code of Criminal Procedure Article 42A.054, the general rule uses actual calendar time equal to one-half of the sentence or 30 years, whichever is less, without good time and with a two-year minimum. Other categories use different rules. Eligibility only permits Board review. It is not a promise of release.

No Freestone Eighty-Five Percent Rule

The absence of a universal 85-percent formula is the key Texas computation quirk. In many ordinary cases, actual time plus good time can control an eligibility threshold. Specified categories can require much longer actual time. Mandatory supervision adds another set of rules under §§508.147 and 508.149.

Section 508.149 lists ineligible people and offenses and permits a panel to deny discretionary mandatory supervision when the statutory findings are made. The list changes and should not be reduced to a loose label such as “violent crimes.” Check the live statute and the offense date.

TDCJ's own definition also changes by offense date. For an eligible offense before September 1, 1996, the projection can be the mandatory-supervision date if parole has not occurred. For later eligible offenses, Board discretion applies. If mandatory supervision is unavailable or denied, the displayed projection may be the discharge date.

Why Freestone Release Dates Change

A date can move before the person leaves. The change may reflect lawful recalculation rather than an error.

FactorPossible effect
Good-time classification or lossChanges eligibility credit used in the calculation
New sentence or corrected jail creditRequires the time account to be audited again
Detainer or holdMay lead to transfer instead of community release
Board voteMay approve, deny, or condition parole or mandatory supervision
Required programCan delay scheduling until successful completion
Residence planCan delay final processing while approval is pending

TDCJ describes an approximate four-to-six-week process after successful completion of a required program, while stressing that cases vary. Classification and Records must audit the file, and a release certificate and approved plan may still be needed. Do not turn that range into an individual promise.

Freestone Parole Votes Are Not Dates

Texas initial parole review is a sequential, three-member file vote, not a public courtroom hearing with a person-by-person calendar. Two matching votes decide the result. A favorable vote may carry a program or transfer condition and still does not confirm that the person has left.

Before a Board vote, BPP status is available at 844-512-0461. After a favorable vote, Parole Division release status is available at 512-406-5202. General TDCJ information lines are 936-295-6371 and 800-535-0283. Have the TDCJ or SID number, or exact birth date if no number is known.

Parole in absentia is a special county-jail route. When a person is physically in a county jail, TDCJ Classification and Records does not calculate and post that county release date through its normal process. Confirm it with Parole Division, Huntsville review staff, and Freestone County Jail.

Freestone County Sentence Calculations

County sentences require a computation separate from TDCJ. The Freestone research found no published local good-time rule, weekend-release policy, guaranteed processing hour, or fixed holiday schedule. Obtain the signed judgment, the jail-credit entry, the Sheriff release record, and any written policy that applied to the person. Do not import a state-prison accrual rate into the local jail.

A court may authorize release before the physical exit occurs. Records checks, another agency's hold, property processing, transport, or administrative work can intervene. A bond receipt or signed order therefore does not supply the exact release time. The jail entry answers when processing ended and can show whether another authority received the person.

The County Clerk is the record custodian for County Court criminal matters, including Class A and B misdemeanors. The District Clerk handles felony and district cases. Match the court record by cause number and then reconcile it with the Sheriff record for the same booking episode.

Confirm Freestone Actual Release

For TDCJ, compare the actual Release Date and current status in IVSS with Parole Division or TDCJ records. For the county jail, ask the Sheriff for the booking and release entry, including time, release type, and receiving agency when maintained and public. Then reconcile a bond or release order with the correct clerk.

The VINELink Release Check explains the current Texas IVSS systems and alerts. Notifications are useful, but a transfer event is not release home. If the systems conflict, preserve the date of each result and ask the originating agency to resolve the record.

A focused Sheriff request should name the person, booking date, booking number, and arresting agency when known. Ask for electronic copies of the booking sheet, release date and time, release type, receiving agency, and any bond or release instrument maintained by the office. The agency can redact protected material and need not create a calculation or report that it does not keep.

Date vocabulary. Eligibility permits review. Projection is a calculation. Scheduling is planned processing. Actual release records the exit. Discharge ends the sentence or supervision term.
